Community Grant Application
The Tumwater PTO Community Grant program provides funds to enable purchases that inspire, inform, and support educational inquiry and innovation at Tumwater Middle School. This program is open to staff & students who put forth specific and creative projects and initiatives specific to Tumwater’s educational curriculum.
Eligibility: Individual teacher(s), teaching teams, support staff or students from Tumwater MS.
Awarding of Funds: The total of grants to be awarded in the 2023-24 school year is $20,750. Review dates for 2023-24 school year are November 11, January 18, and March 7.
Process:
Complete an Community Grant application form online.
The Tumwater PTO Board, plus two staff members (if available), will carefully review all applications on the listed review date and will make a final decision concerning each application as recorded in the meeting minutes.
The Tumwater PTO President will ensure that applicants are notified of the decision.
Criteria:
The Tumwater Board will consider the following questions when evaluating a community grant recommendation:
How does the purchase or activity help meet or maintain education or enrichment goals set by the Beaverton School District, Tumwater Middle School, or the Tumwater PTO?
To what degree does the proposal directly impact students in the classroom?
How many students will benefit from the purchase?
Is funding available from another source?
Is the purchase feasible? Can it be accomplished in a timely manner?
Are there ongoing expenses related to the purchase? How will this be funded?
Implementation Date: Grants awarded must be implemented during the school year they were approved.
Responsibilities of Grant Recipients:
Use the award for the purposes intended. Funding will be available only for actual expenditures, not to exceed the amount approved by the Tumwater PTO Board. All purchases must be labeled property of Tumwater Middle School and will remain at TMS, regardless of staff movement.
